A crispy, layered lasagna made with wonton sheets and a savory dumpling-style filling, offering a crunchy texture and juicy filling in a quick and easy recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Wonton sheets (fresh or frozen, thawed if frozen)
  • 1 pound ground pork or chicken
  • 34 green onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup finely shredded cabbage or napa cabbage
  • ½ cup chopped shiitake mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying and brushing between layers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, green onions, garlic, ginger, cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce, sesame oil, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well for about 5 minutes.
  2. Cook the filling: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add filling and cook, stirring occasionally, until meat is fully cooked and vegetables soften, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Layer the lasagna: Lay a wonton sheet on a clean surface and lightly brush with vegetable oil. Spoon a thin layer of filling evenly on top, leaving a ½-inch border. Place another oiled wonton sheet on top and repeat layering until 3-4 layers are formed, finishing with a wonton sheet on top. This takes about 10 minutes.
  4. Cook the lasagna: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat with a little oil. Carefully transfer the layered lasagna into the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes until bottom is golden and crispy. Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes. Total cooking time about 15 minutes.
  5. Serve: Remove from pan and let rest for 2 minutes. Slice into squares or wedges and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Lightly oil each wonton sheet to prevent sticking and create a golden crust. Use medium heat to avoid burning. If flipping is difficult, invert the lasagna onto a plate and then back into the pan. For extra crispness, finish under a broiler for 1-2 minutes. Thaw frozen wonton sheets and pat dry before use to avoid sogginess.
