These popsicles are a sweet, tangy, and spicy frozen treat combining ripe mangoes, fresh lime juice, tequila, and Tajín seasoning, perfect for cooling off on hot summer days.

  • 2 large fresh mangoes, peeled and chopped
  • Juice of 2 medium limes (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) tequila blanco
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) agave syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Tajín seasoning (for rimming the molds)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop 2 large ripe mangoes into chunks. Juice 2 medium limes until you have about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  2. In a small bowl, combine about 2 tablespoons of Tajín seasoning with a pinch of sea salt. Moisten the rim of each popsicle mold with a damp cloth or lime wedge, then dip into the seasoning mixture. Set molds aside.
  3. In a blender, combine mango chunks, lime juice, tequila blanco, agave syrup, and water. Blend until smooth but still with a little texture, about 30 seconds. Add more water if mixture is too thick.
  4. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness or lime juice as desired. Optionally, add a tiny pinch of Tajín for extra heat and blend briefly.
  5. Pour the mango margarita mixture into the rimmed molds, leaving space at the top for expansion. Insert popsicle sticks.
  6. Freeze molds upright for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, until firm.
  7. To unmold, run warm water over the outside of the molds for a few seconds and gently pull on the sticks. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use ripe, juicy mangoes for best flavor. Wet mold rims with lime juice before dipping in Tajín for better adhesion. Adjust tequila amount if popsicles freeze too hard. For non-alcoholic version, substitute tequila with sparkling water or orange juice. Freeze overnight for best texture.
