A quick and easy homemade summer drink combining juicy watermelon, fresh mint, and a hint of citrus for a refreshing and hydrating beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (or lime juice)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 12 tablespoons sugar or honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut about 6 cups of seedless watermelon into cubes.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes and 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves in a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Optional: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and mint bits.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and 1-2 tablespoons of sugar or honey, adjusting to taste.
  5. Add 2 cups of cold water to the pitcher and stir well to combine.
  6. Add ice cubes to glasses, pour the agua fresca over, and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint if desired. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

Notes

Use ripe, juicy watermelon for best flavor. Avoid overblending to prevent watery texture. Sweetener is optional depending on watermelon sweetness. For a fizzy version, replace half the water with sparkling water before serving. Add fresh mint just before serving for best aroma and flavor.
