These savory Hawaiian ham sliders combine sweet pineapple, smoky ham, and melted Swiss cheese for a quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing snack or meal.

Ingredients

  • Slider buns (soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls)
  • Thinly sliced ham (smoked or honey ham)
  • Swiss cheese slices (Emmental or Jarlsberg recommended)
  • Pineapple rings or chunks (fresh or canned in juice, drained)
  • Unsalted butter (softened, for brushing buns)
  • Optional: Dijon mustard or light mayonnaise for subtle tang

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves snugly side-by-side in a baking dish.
  3. Layer about 2 ounces (60 grams) of ham evenly over the bottom buns.
  4. Add a layer of pineapple rings or chunks on top of the ham, cutting rings into smaller pieces if needed.
  5. Top with a slice of Swiss cheese covering the pineapple.
  6. Place the top bun halves over the cheese and press down gently.
  7. Brush the tops of the buns with softened unsalted butter.
  8. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to trap steam.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to brown the tops.
  10. Remove from oven and let sliders rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Butter the tops of the buns before baking for a golden, crispy finish. Cover with foil during baking to melt cheese evenly and keep buns moist. Drain pineapple well to avoid soggy buns. Optional Dijon mustard adds a subtle tang. For extra melt, broil 1-2 minutes watching closely. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 3 days and reheat best in oven wrapped in foil.
