This apple cider margarita with a cinnamon sugar rim is the perfect fall cocktail. It’s quick, easy, and balanced with tart apple, fresh lime, and warm cinnamon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces apple cider (fresh, unfiltered preferred)
  • 2 ounces reposado tequila
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (Cointreau recommended)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)
  • Apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon sugar rim: In a small shallow dish, combine 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon with 1 tablespoon granulated sugar. Stir until evenly mixed. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into the cinnamon sugar mixture, turning to coat evenly. Tap off any excess.
  2. Fill the glass with ice. Use large cubes if available to slow melting.
  3. Add 2 ounces reposado tequila over the ice.
  4. Add 1 ounce orange liqueur.
  5. Add 1 ounce fresh lime juice.
  6. Pour in 4 ounces apple cider. Stir gently with a long spoon to combine.
  7. Garnish with a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t shake this margarita; stirring keeps it clean and crisp. Use fresh apple cider, not apple juice. Rim the glass right before serving to prevent the cinnamon sugar from getting gummy. Adjust sweetness to taste based on the cider’s sweetness.
