cozy caramel apple sangria - featured image

A warm, spiced red wine sangria infused with caramel sauce, apple cider, and cinnamon sticks. This easy-to-make drink is perfect for cozy autumn nights and requires minimal prep time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1 cup unsweetened apple cider
  • 2 medium tart apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), sliced into wedges
  • 1/2 cup thick caramel sauce
  • 3–4 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice apples into thin wedges, removing cores and seeds. Place apple slices into a large 2-quart glass pitcher.
  2. Pour in the apple cider and orange juice, followed by the red wine. Ensure the wine covers most of the fruit.
  3. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the mixture and add the cinnamon sticks. Stir gently with a long spoon to dissolve the caramel without crushing the apples.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, ideally 1-2 hours, to allow flavors to infuse.
  5. Remove from fridge, give a final stir, and serve over ice in large wine glasses or mason jars. Garnish with an apple slice or cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

Use dry red wine to balance the sweetness of the caramel and cider. Whole cinnamon sticks are preferred over ground cinnamon to avoid grittiness. The sangria can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Do not freeze, as the fruit texture will suffer. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the wine with extra apple cider or non-alcoholic red wine.
