These creamy spooky spider deviled eggs are a fun, easy, and delicious Halloween appetizer that balances rich flavor with a playful presentation. Made with simple pantry staples, they are perfect for parties, movie nights, or spooky gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2–3 stalks chives, finely chopped (for legs and body)

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water about an inch above the eggs.
  2. Bring water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  3. Prepare an ice bath in a large bowl. Transfer eggs to the ice bath and let cool for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Peel the eggs under running water, tapping gently to crack the shell, then pat dry with a paper towel.
  5. Cut eggs in half lengthwise and scoop out yolks into a mixing bowl.
  6. Mash yolks with a fork until crumbly, then mix in mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  7. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and taste to adjust seasoning.
  8. Transfer filling to a piping bag fitted with a star tip or a ziplock bag with the corner snipped.
  9. Pipe filling into egg white halves in a swirl pattern, leaving a small indentation in the center.
  10. Place a small piece of chive in the center indentation for the spider body.
  11. Cut eight small pieces of chive for legs, arranging four on each side of the body, bending slightly to resemble legs.
  12. Serve chilled or refrigerate covered until ready to serve.

Notes

[‘Use eggs that are at least a week old for easier peeling.’, ‘Pat peeled eggs completely dry to prevent watery filling.’, ‘Assemble spiders just before serving to keep chive legs fresh and crisp.’, ‘Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; do not freeze.’, ‘For a dairy-free option, use vegan mayo and skip the cheddar cheese.’]
