Fun and easy pencil-shaped Rice Krispie treats perfect for back-to-school snacks, parties, or lunchboxes. These treats combine classic crispy, gooey texture with playful chocolate and colorful details.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (or any crispy rice cereal)
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or melting chocolate
  • Pink candy melts or pink frosting (optional)
  • Edible food markers or colored icing pens
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Non-stick spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in 30-second intervals until fully melted.
  3. Add 4 cups of mini marshmallows, stirring after each 30-second burst, until completely melted and smooth (about 2 to 3 minutes total).
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for extra flavor (optional).
  5. Immediately add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture and fold gently until evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and press evenly and firmly to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Allow the slab to cool and set for about 30 minutes at room temperature or 15-20 minutes in the fridge.
  8. Cut the set slab into rectangles about 1 inch wide and 5 inches long, rounding one end slightly to mimic a pencil point.
  9. Melt 4 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
  10. Dip one end of each treat into the melted chocolate to form the pencil tip and place back on parchment paper to set.
  11. Dip the opposite end into pink candy melts or spread pink frosting to create the eraser and let set completely.
  12. Use edible food markers or colored icing pens to draw pencil lines, the metal band, and other details once chocolate and candy melts have hardened.

Notes

Use fresh marshmallows for best melting results. Work quickly when mixing cereal into marshmallow mixture to prevent setting. Avoid overheating chocolate to prevent seizing. If edible markers are unavailable, use colored frosting piped carefully. Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate/freezer for longer storage.
