A sweet, salty, and crunchy fall party snack made with Chex cereal, candy corn, and a homemade brown sugar glaze. This easy-to-make mix is perfect for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or any autumn gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Chex Cereal Mix (Rice, Corn, and Wheat Chex)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1.5 cups candy corn
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine Chex cereals, chopped nuts, and candy corn; toss gently to distribute.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, stirring constantly until smooth and dissolved (2-3 minutes).
  4. Pour the warm glaze over the cereal mixture and toss vigorously until every piece is coated.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even cooking and prevent clumping.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely on the tray until the glaze hardens.
  8. Break up any large clumps and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Keep the oven temperature low (250°F) to caramelize sugar without burning. Stirring every 15 minutes is crucial for even texture. Let the mix cool completely before storing to ensure crispiness. Do not refrigerate as it will make the mix soggy. For a gluten-free version, use certified gluten-free Chex cereals.
