A homemade version of the popular Starbucks drink that combines cold brew coffee, homemade brown sugar syrup, and oat milk, shaken with ice for a creamy, frothy, and refreshing caffeine boost.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strong cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup oat milk (barista-style recommended)
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)

Instructions

  1. Combine the brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool completely.
  4. Fill a cocktail shaker or large jar with ice.
  5. Add the cold brew coffee, 2 tablespoons of the cooled brown sugar syrup, and the oat milk to the shaker.
  6. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until a nice froth forms.
  7. Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
  8. Top with a little extra oat milk if desired and stir gently.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use cold brew instead of hot coffee to prevent the drink from becoming watery as the ice melts. Shake vigorously to create the signature foam. The brown sugar syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Adjust sweetness by adding more or less syrup to taste.
