An effortless, tender ham cooked in a slow cooker with a sweet and tangy cranberry-orange glaze. This recipe requires minimal prep and delivers juicy, flavorful results perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 lbs honey-glazed spiral-sliced ham (pre-cooked)
  • 1 cup water or chicken broth
  • 1416 oz canned whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Optional: 4-5 whole allspice berries
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon orange zest

Instructions

  1. Remove ham from packaging and pat dry. Place in the slow cooker, fat-side up.
  2. Pour water or chicken broth into the bottom of the slow cooker around the ham.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together cranberry sauce, orange juice, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger until smooth.
  4. Place slow cooker on low setting and cook ham for 4-5 hours (or 2-3 hours on high).
  5. Remove lid and brush the glaze generously over the entire ham, ensuring it gets into the spiral slices.
  6. Replace lid and cook for another 30-45 minutes on low to set the glaze.
  7. Check internal temperature; it should reach 140°F (60°C).
  8. Remove ham from slow cooker and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve with extra glaze spooned from the bottom of the pot.

Notes

Since the ham is pre-cooked, you are only heating it through. Do not overcook or it will dry out. Apply the glaze in the last hour of cooking to prevent burning. Leftovers taste even better the next day as the glaze soaks in. Store in an airtight container with some glaze for up to 5 days.
