This recipe delivers restaurant-quality garlic butter lobster tails that are quick, easy, and packed with rich buttery and garlicky flavor. Perfect for special occasions or a luxurious weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lobster tails, about 6-8 oz (170-225g) each, thawed if frozen
  • 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler and position your oven rack about 6 inches (15 cm) from the heat source. Line your baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Using kitchen scissors, carefully cut down the center of the top shell lengthwise, stopping just before the tail fin. Pry the shell open gently and lift the lobster meat, resting it on top of the shell. Be careful not to cut through the bottom shell.
  3. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper. Whisk together until well combined.
  4. Brush the lobster meat generously with the garlic butter mixture, making sure to coat every nook and cranny. Reserve a little butter mixture for basting halfway through cooking.
  5. Lightly drizzle olive oil over the baking sheet and place the lobster tails on it, shell-side down.
  6. Slide the baking sheet into the oven and broil for about 8-10 minutes (depending on tail size), basting with the reserved garlic butter halfway through. The lobster meat should turn opaque and firm with a slight golden crust on top. The internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C).
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 2 minutes. Spoon any remaining garlic butter from the pan over the lobster tails for extra flavor.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and a sprinkle of fresh parsley.

Notes

Do not skip cutting the shell for even cooking and presentation. Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Keep an eye on the broiler to avoid overcooking. Melt butter gently to avoid browning. Let lobster rest before serving to keep it juicy. Garlic butter can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge. If no broiler, bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes, basting halfway through.
