A quick and easy 5-minute summer drink combining the bright zing of fresh lime juice with sweet cherries, blended into a frosty, vibrant cooler perfect for hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups (225g) fresh or frozen pitted cherries
  • ½ cup (120ml) fresh lime juice (from about 45 medium limes)
  • ½ cup (120ml) cherry juice or concentrate, unsweetened if possible
  • ¼ cup (60ml) simple syrup, homemade or store-bought
  • 2 cups (about 300g) ice cubes
  • ½ cup (120ml) sparkling water (optional, for topping)
  • Optional garnish: lime wedges, fresh cherries, or mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherries: If using fresh cherries, pit about 1 ½ cups (225g). Remove stems and rinse well. If frozen, no need to thaw fully; just separate any clumps. (5 minutes)
  2. Juice the limes: Roll 4-5 limes on the counter to loosen juices, then cut and juice to get ½ cup (120ml) of fresh lime juice. Strain if you want a smoother drink. (3 minutes)
  3. Combine base ingredients: In your blender, add cherries, fresh lime juice, ½ cup (120ml) cherry juice, and ¼ cup (60ml) simple syrup. Blend on medium for about 30 seconds until smooth but still with some texture. (1 minute)
  4. Add ice: Toss in 2 cups (300g) of ice cubes. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until the mixture is frosty and slushy. Pause to stir if needed to avoid large chunks. (2 minutes)
  5. Taste and adjust: Give it a quick taste. Add more simple syrup if you like it sweeter, or a splash more lime juice for extra tang. Blend again briefly to incorporate. (1 minute)
  6. Serve immediately: Pour into tall glasses, optionally topping with ½ cup (120ml) sparkling water for fizz. Garnish with lime wedges or fresh cherries. (Instant!)

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor; bottled lime juice results in a flatter taste. Pulse ice in short bursts to avoid overheating the blender and to maintain a slushy texture. Serve immediately for best taste and texture. Leftovers can be stored in the freezer up to 2 days and re-blended before serving. Simple syrup can be substituted with honey or agave syrup. For a bubbly twist, substitute half the cherry juice with sparkling water.
