A bright, bubbly, and refreshing homemade sparkling peach lemonade with a subtle herbal twist of ginger and basil, perfect for warm weather and easy to make in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium fresh peaches, ripe and juicy, sliced (freestone recommended)
  • 4 large fresh lemons, juiced (about 1 cup or 240 ml)
  • 1012 fresh basil leaves, vibrant and fragrant
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar or honey (adjust sweetness to taste)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) chilled sparkling water
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Optional: splash of fresh lime juice
  • Optional: peach slices and basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice 3 medium ripe peaches into thin wedges. Set aside about 4 slices for garnish if desired.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, add sliced peaches and 10-12 fresh basil leaves. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon to release juices and oils without pureeing.
  3. Grate 1 tablespoon fresh ginger directly into the bowl. Sprinkle 1/4 cup granulated sugar or honey over the mixture. Stir gently until sugar dissolves and ginger is evenly distributed.
  4. Juice 4 large lemons (about 1 cup or 240 ml) and pour into the bowl. Stir to combine all flavors.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to let flavors meld.
  6. Optional: Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a serving pitcher for a smoother drink, pressing gently on solids to extract juice. Otherwise, pour everything in for rustic texture.
  7. Add 4 cups (1 liter) chilled sparkling water to the pitcher. Stir gently to combine.
  8. Add ice cubes to chill and serve immediately.
  9. Garnish with reserved peach slices and basil leaves. Serve in tall glasses with a straw or stirring stick.

Notes

Do not over-muddle basil to avoid bitterness. Use ripe peaches for best flavor. Fresh ginger is key for bright zing. Chill mixture before adding sparkling water for best flavor melding. Adjust sweetness after tasting. Use quality sparkling water for better mouthfeel. Leftovers keep up to 2 days refrigerated; add fresh sparkling water before serving again.
