Spooky Halloween Veggie Tray with Ranch Dip - featured image

A festive and healthy appetizer featuring creatively carved vegetables arranged like spooky shapes, served with a thick, creamy homemade ranch dip. Perfect for Halloween parties, this dish is easy to assemble and visually striking.

Ingredients

  • Broccoli crowns (for ‘witch fingers’)
  • Carrots (for ‘eyeballs’ or sticks)
  • Celery stalks (for ‘witch fingers’ base)
  • Cauliflower florets (for ‘eyeballs’ or ‘brains’)
  • Cucumber (for ‘skeleton bones’)
  • Ranch dressing mix (dry packet or store-bought)
  • Cream cheese (full-fat, softened)
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Dill pickle relish (optional)
  • Fresh dill or parsley (chopped)
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Black olives or pepperoni slices (optional, for ‘eyeballs’)
  • Red pepper slices (optional, for ‘nails’)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream (or Greek yogurt). Whisk or mix until completely smooth and lump-free.
  2. Add ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped fresh dill to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until well combined. If using dry mix, add a tablespoon of water or milk if needed for consistency.
  3. Taste the dip and adjust seasoning if necessary. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  4. While the dip chills, wash and thoroughly dry all vegetables. Pat them dry with paper towels to ensure crispness.
  5. For ‘witch fingers,’ trim the stem of a broccoli floret to a point. Optionally, attach a small piece of red pepper or black olive to the top to resemble a nail.
  6. For ‘eyeballs,’ slice cauliflower into small round florets. Carve a slit in the center and insert a tiny piece of black olive or pepperoni for the pupil.
  7. Slice carrots into thick coins or sticks. Slice cucumber into half-moons for ‘skeleton bones’.
  8. Spoon the chilled ranch dip into the center of a large serving platter.
  9. Arrange the carved vegetables around the dip in a circular, balanced pattern.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley or dill sprigs if desired. Serve immediately or keep refrigerated until serving.
