A glowing green punch with a dramatic dry ice fog effect that transforms any Halloween party into a witch’s cauldron. This simple, citrusy punch is made with limeade, pineapple juice, lemon-lime soda, and lime sherbet, and is sure to be a show-stopping centerpiece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12 oz) can limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 4 cups lemon-lime soda (such as Sprite or 7Up), chilled
  • 2 cups lime sherbet
  • 3–4 drops green food coloring (optional)
  • Ice (optional)
  • 1–2 pounds dry ice

Instructions

  1. Thaw the limeade concentrate by placing it in the refrigerator overnight or running the can under warm water until liquid.
  2. In a large punch bowl or drink dispenser, combine the thawed limeade concentrate, pineapple juice, and chilled lemon-lime soda. Stir gently with a long-handled spoon.
  3. Scoop the lime sherbet into the punch and stir until it starts to melt and create a creamy, frothy texture. Leave some chunks for visual interest.
  4. Add 3-4 drops of green food coloring and stir until the punch is a vibrant green. Add more drops if needed.
  5. If not serving immediately, cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours.
  6. Just before serving, put on gloves or use tongs to handle the dry ice. Break it into small chunks (about golf ball size) using a hammer or the back of a heavy knife on a hard surface.
  7. Drop a few chunks of dry ice into the punch. The fog will start immediately. Add more chunks every 15-20 minutes to maintain the fog effect.
  8. Serve immediately, ladling the punch into cups while avoiding scooping up any dry ice chunks. Warn guests not to ingest the dry ice.

Notes

Handle dry ice with care: never touch it with bare hands and never ingest it. The fog effect lasts 15-20 minutes per chunk; add fresh dry ice every 20 minutes to keep the show going. For a less sweet punch, use diet soda and reduce limeade concentrate. The punch base (without dry ice) can be made up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerated.
