These playful and spicy mummy hot dog bites wrapped in flaky crescent dough are perfect for Halloween or any casual get-together. The sweet and spicy sriracha honey sauce adds a flavorful zing that makes this snack unforgettable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular or mini hot dogs, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
  • Optional: small strips of cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
  • Black sesame seeds or tiny edible eyes for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice each hot dog in half lengthwise to create thinner strips. If using cheese, cut into thin strips about the same length as the hot dogs.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles. Slice each triangle into thin strips about 1/4 inch wide.
  4. Wrap each hot dog strip with dough strips, optionally adding a cheese strip on top, leaving small gaps to resemble mummy wrappings and a small gap near the top for eyes.
  5. Place the wrapped bites on a parchment-lined baking sheet spaced about 1 inch apart.
  6. Lightly brush the wrapped dough with the beaten egg wash using a pastry brush.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is puffed and golden brown, watching closely after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
  8. While baking, combine honey, sriracha, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil in a small saucepan over low heat or microwave for 20-30 seconds. Whisk until smooth.
  9. Remove bites from oven and let cool on a cooling rack for 3-5 minutes.
  10. Brush the spicy sriracha honey sauce generously over each mummy bite.
  11. Press black sesame seeds or edible eyes into the dough gaps while the glaze is still tacky.
  12. Serve warm.

Notes

Let the crescent dough come to room temperature before slicing to prevent tearing. Apply egg wash lightly to avoid sogginess. Brush the sauce immediately after baking for best glaze adherence. Keep dough wrapping loose with gaps to mimic mummy wrappings and ensure even baking. Use silicone mats or parchment paper to prevent sticking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat in the oven for best texture.
