These spooky yet delicious no-bake Halloween dirt cups are the perfect last-minute party dessert. With a rich cream cheese filling, chocolate cookie ‘dirt’, and gummy worm garnish, they come together in under 15 minutes for a fun, crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20–25 chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreos)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces whipped topping (such as Cool Whip), thawed
  • Gummy worms, for garnish
  • Gummy eyeballs, optional for garnish
  • Mini chocolate chips, optional for garnish

Instructions

  1. Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. You should have about 2 cups of crumbs.
  2. Melt the 2 tablespoons of butter and mix it into the cookie crumbs until they resemble wet sand. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  4. Add the vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture and mix briefly to combine.
  5. Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix to maintain a light and fluffy texture.
  6. To assemble, add a layer of the chocolate crumb mixture to the bottom of serving cups (about 1/4 inch thick).
  7. Add a generous layer of the cream cheese filling on top of the crumbs.
  8. Sprinkle more cookie crumbs over the filling to create the ‘dirt’ effect.
  9. Stick gummy worms into the dirt so they appear to be crawling out. Add gummy eyeballs and mini chocolate chips if desired.
  10. Refrigerate the cups for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the layers to set. They can be made up to 24 hours in advance.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature to avoid lumps. For best texture, use a mix of fine crumbs and small chunks. Add gummy worms right before serving to prevent them from getting soggy. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
